Ali was a member of a clown troupe doing shows around Baghdad for children. The troupe tried to continue working after the U.S. invasion, but two of their members were killed at different check points they crossed, and the stakes became to high for them to continue. Ali finally fled Iraq for Syria with his fellow clown and friend and after a dangerous ride made it to Damascus. He went to art school in Baghdad. He has only been in the U.S. for 2 months as of this interview. |
