Yung Ho Chang-Architecture Lecture

Yung Ho Chang, Professor of Architecture and fomer Head of the Department of Architecture, comes to MIT from Peking University where he was Head and Professor of the Graduate Center of Architecture. He received his M.Arch here at the University of California at Berkeley and taught in the US for 15 years before returning to Beijing to establish China's first private architecture firm, Atelier FCJZ. He has exhibited internationally as an artist as well as architect and is widely published, including the monograph Yung Ho Chang/Atelier Feichang Jianzhu: A Chinese Practice. His interdisciplinary research focuses on the city, materiality, and tradition. He often combines his research activities with design commissions. Yung Ho Chang is an architect at Atelier FCJZ and a Professor at Peking University and MIT. Chang studied at the Nanjing Institute of Technology (now Southeast University before moving to the US. He then received his M.Arch. from the University of California, Berkeley and taught in the US for 15 years before returning to Beijing to establish China's first private architecture firm, Atelier FCJZ. He has exhibited and published internationally as an artist as well as architect including the monograph Yung Ho Chang/Atelier Feichang Jianzhu: A Chinese Practice. His interdisciplinary research focuses on the city, materiality, and tradition. He often combines his research activities with design commissions. Chang has been the Kenzo Tange Chair Professor at Harvard Graduate School of Design as well as the Eliel Saarinen Chair Professor at University of Michigan. He is a recipient of the Distinguished Alumnus Award from the College of Environmental Design
